On 28 July 2019, the government released to the public the report of the Presidential Advisory Panel on Land Reform and Agriculture. President Cyril Ramaphosa last year appointed the 10-person panel to come up with recommendations on land reform, how to implement the policy of ‘expropriation without compensation’ and changes necessary to reinvigorate institutions such as the Land Claims Court and the Commission for Restitution of Land Rights. In a Tshisimani public seminar, a member of the panel Ruth Hall (Plaas, UWC) will outline and explain the recommendations in the report. Participants will then discuss the implications of the report for struggles and campaigns on land issues.
